Forging basics

A simple overview of how ore mixes and percentages interact with outcomes (kept intentionally high-level).

Try the Forge Calculator →

How forging works (high-level)

  • You craft by mixing ores (up to 4 types).
  • Your mix becomes composition percentages.
  • Those percentages influence the pool of outcomes and the odds you roll.
  • Some rolls can also apply additional traits or bonuses depending on your composition.

Note: This page avoids publishing exact formula details. Use the calculator for concrete odds and comparisons.

Quick demo (showcase)

Move the slider to see an illustrative chance bar. This is just a UI demo to show how “more ore” can increase success odds for some crafts — it’s not meant as an exact formula.

Demo chance: 0%

For real chances for each item (and world differences), use the calculator or optimizer.

Percentages & traits

In general, your ore percentages determine what you’re likely to craft and what bonuses can appear. If you want the “best possible” results for a specific build goal (DPS, tank, balance), the optimizer is the fastest route because it can compare many mixes.

Best practice

Use this wiki to learn, then use the optimizer to decide.

The Forge Wiki Guide (Roblox)

This fan-made The Forge wiki is built to help you pick the right ores, weapons, armors, and pickaxes without having to guess. If you’re trying to craft a specific outcome, the fastest approach is: learn the basics here, then use the Inventory Optimizer to test mixes using your real ore counts.

How ore multipliers & traits work (high-level)

  • Ore multipliers affect how strong the resulting craft can be, but the outcome still depends on what you roll.
  • Ore percentages influence what items are even in the pool for that craft attempt.
  • Traits can push a build toward damage, tankiness, speed, or utility (depending on the ore).
  • If you want “best possible” results for your build, use the optimizer because it compares many valid mixes quickly.

The Forge FAQ

What is The Forge Calculator / The Forge Wiki?

TheForgeCalculator.com is a fan-made toolkit for Roblox The Forge: a wiki-style reference (this page), a Forge Calculator for comparing outcomes, and an Inventory Optimizer that recommends mixes based on your owned ores.

How do ore multipliers affect crafting?

Ore multipliers are a strength factor for a craft attempt. Higher multipliers can raise the ceiling of what you can roll, but the final result still depends on the outcome pool and RNG.

Do ore traits matter for weapons and armor?

Yes. Some ores provide traits that apply to weapons, some to armor, and some to both. Traits can shift your build toward damage (weapon damage/crit), survivability (HP/vitality/defense), or speed/utility.

What’s the best ore mix for my inventory?

There isn’t one universal “best” mix because your ore counts limit what compositions are realistic. Use the Inventory Optimizer to test valid mixes using your owned amounts.

Where can I see ore chances and spawn info?

Use the Ore Chances page. It’s built to compare drop odds across rocks/worlds and help you target the best farm spots.

Why do some weapons have multiple variants?

Variants can affect feel and performance (attack time, base damage, and the resulting DPS baseline). Compare variants here, then validate the best craft path using the calculator/optimizer.

How do I progress faster in World 1 / World 2 / World 3?

Upgrade your pickaxe as soon as it meaningfully increases mining power for your world, then craft weapons/armor that match your goal (damage vs tank). This wiki shows the catalog; the optimizer helps choose the best craft from what you actually own.

Is this wiki official?

No — it’s a fan-made reference. Always verify in-game if something changes after an update.
